The mountaineering village Gschnitztal

The Gschnitztal has been one of the mountaineering villages since 2019 and lives up to this title in every respect. The west-facing side valley of the Wipptal has a share in the Stubai Alps and offers hikers and mountaineers numerous rewarding destinations.

With its total of 6 refuges, all of which can be reached from the valley, hut hikers are offered plenty of variety. For those who like to stay "at the top", the Gschnitztaler Hüttentour is an up to 7-day circular hut tour with start and end point in Steinach at the entrance to the Gschnitztal. Alternatively, you can also start and end the tour in Trins. Almost every hut also offers the possibility of taking in a peak, such as the Habicht (3,277 m) or the Kirchdachspitze (2,840 n). The tour can also be shortened as desired, as you can descend from any hut into the Gschnitztal valley and take the bus back to Steinach/Trins.

At the bottom of the valley, flat meadow hiking trails invite you to relax and unwind, and via ferrata lovers will get their money's worth on the St. Magdalena via ferrata. The whole family will find peace and relaxation with great play opportunities for children in the Mühlendorf at the foot of the Sandeswasserfall at the end of the Gschnitztal.

And new from summer 2021 is the theme trail "Gschnitzy & Gossy - on the trail of water in the Gschnitztal " with many stations along the Gschnitzbach. Here you can learn more about the water habitat, the history of the Gschnitz Valley and the fauna in the protected area. There are also two Kneipp stations!
