Our village is your village! In Forstau everything is just a shade more cosy, yet is still only 10 minutes from the major transport routes.
Forstau is located in Salzburger Land, in the middle of Austria and in the centre of the ''Ski Amadé'' region. A small, idyllic holiday village with big perspectives - nestled in a high valley (930m altitude) between Radstadt and Schladming. Experience scenic variety and harmony, which is in keeping with the warm-heartedness of the 560 inhabitants. Summer and winter alike there are many opportunities to enjoy a diverse range of leisure activities, and also sweet idleness and day-dreams.

An abundance of hiking trails
More than 50 km of hiking trails in and around Forstau await you in summer. Horse-riding, mountain biking, excursion destinations and climbing are just a few of the leisure opportunities on offer. Take a deep breath, switch off and take a look at, smell and sense the unique surroundings.
The kneipp-path and the healing educational trail at the Bachweg are worth a visit and the new "Forsti´s Fitnesstrail" with 12 fitness-stations keeps you in shape!

In the region around Forstau there are lots of other activities too, such as swimming, paragliding, rafting, high ropes courses, lots of wonderful and romantic gorges, stately homes and castles, museums and adventures to enjoy in the natural surroundings. The world-renown Mozart city of Salzburg with its unique sights can, much like the other attractions in Salzburger Land, be reached in a very short time.

In the heart of the Ski Amade
In winter Forstau is located in the middle of the 'Ski Amadé' region. 'Ski Amadé' is Austria's biggest ski association — unlimited skiing pleasure! Over 860 kilometres of pistes await in 5 regions — with just one ski pass! Our ski mountain — the Fageralm — is just the place for connoisseurs, families with children and those who love Alpine lodges. Sunny piste fun away from the hectic pace and the stress! There really is enough space here to carve and snowboard. Special pistes for children make a day's skiing an adventure and the cosy ski lodges invite to stop-off for some refreshments and enjoy some of that happy-go-lucky 'Hüttengaudi'!
