The Temple of Speed
Since the early 1990s, Vars has been the temple of speed on snow. Whether on skis, bike, snowboard or snowscoot, world records have followed one another for almost 30 years on the Chabrières piste. The fastest skiers on the planet are now competing for the world record on the Vars ski area at speeds of over 250 km/h.

This is probably the best way to enjoy the beauty of the area if you're not a skier.

A total of 60 kilometers of marked pedestrian/snowshoe itineraries and soft paths will take you to all 4 corners of Vars.

Vars, a corner of paradise perched at an altitude of 1850 metres, where the mountains are experienced to the full: thrills, crazy moments and unforgettable experiences. Vars is adventure with a capital “A”, with activities and events that make it the most unusual resort in the Hautes-Alpes.

World capital of speed skiing
The resort is known as the temple of the Kilomètre Lancé. Here, professionals gather to hurtle down the Chabrières piste, the fastest in the world, at dizzying speeds. Imagine skiers going from 0 to over 200 km/h in less than 6 seconds, in January for the World Cup and in March for the world record attempt. Incredible races where every thousandth of a second counts and adrenalin is king.

And because the mountains here are also an open-air stage, Vars offers concerts at altitude throughout the season. This year, the season kicks off with a free concert by Bigflo & Oli at the foot of the Eyssina ridge, before closing with a grand DJ set at the Gliss & Mix.

And that's not all! Vars offers a rich and varied entertainment program throughout the season, with events to suit all tastes: shows, sporting challenges and surprising festivities. Among the must-see events, the Outdoormix Winter Festival will win you over with its original events such as snowkayaking. In the evening, it's time to party under a big heated tent, where renowned artists set the stage alight.
