Leo’s play hiking trail

The starting point of this hike is located close to the upper station of the Asitz or Steinberg cable car, facing the summit over the Großer Asitz, past the reservoir pond and back to the upper station. The start is marked by a large wooden archway with the inscription "Spielewanderweg" (play hiking trail).

Note: This hiking trail is especially suitable for families and can be mastered by everyone in about 2 hours walking time.

Not suitable for strollers!

NOTE: The Asitz is popular with both mountain bikers and hikers. Mutual consideration is asked for!

At the Mountain of the Senses, grazing animals such as cows, horses, sheep, and goats spend the well-deserved alpine summer. How to behave properly towards them can be found here.

For more challenging tours, please observe the last descent of the Asitzbahn at 4:30 p.m.

BY CAR

From Saalfelden or St. Johann in Tirol take the B 164 to Leogang. The valley station of the Asitzbahn is located about 4 km from the town center toward Hochfilzen. From here, take the Asitzbahn to the upper station and start your hike there.

BY TRAIN

You can enjoy your holiday from the very beginning by train. No traffic jam prevents you from coming to Saalfelden Leogang! Furthermore, the ÖBB timetable helps you quickly and easily find the ideal train connection to Leogang station: oebb.at (walk to the starting point approx. 30 minutes)

BY BUS

The starting point at the valley station of the Leoganger Asitzbahn can be reached by post bus from the town center of Saalfelden or Leogang. From the bus stop "Leogang Asitzbahnen" the starting point is reachable on foot in a few minutes. Further information can be found at https://fahrplan.salzburg-verkehr.at/
