Welcome to the Rossfeld near Berchtesgaden
The Rossfeld is a family ski area in the Berchtesgadener Land with guaranteed snow. Accessible all year round via the Rossfeld panoramic road, the easy and wide ski meadows reach up to 1600 metres above sea level close to the summit.
Skiers and sun-seekers are rewarded with an impressive panoramic view of the Berchtesgaden Alps (Hoher Göll, Kehlstein, Lattengebirge, Untersberg) and Austrian mountains (Dachstein, Tennengebirge), as well as the Salzach Valley 1000 metres below with the Mozart city of Salzburg.
Ideal runs for beginners and families
Four T-bar lifts provide access to well-groomed ski/snowboard pistes. You can ski on natural snow on the easy ski meadows on the Rossfeld until Easter. Experienced skiers can enjoy the 6 km long valley run to Oberau or to the neighbouring Zinken ski area. A regular ski bus runs between Oberau and Rossfeld and includes 15 kilometres of pistes with the Oberau - Rossfeld - Zinken ski pass. After a great day's skiing on the Rossfeld, the Ski & Therme ski pass offers relaxation in the thermal spas of the Berchtesgadener Land.
The cosy Liftstüberl directly at the valley station "Großer Lift" takes care of your physical well-being. Hot and cold dishes, coffee and homemade cakes, as well as draught beer and drinks of all kinds round off a wonderful day's skiing on the Rossfeld. A barbecue area at the lift restaurant also helps self-caterers to enjoy their own meal in the warmth.
Family/children
The clearly laid out pistes at Rossfeld offer families and children ideal skiing fun. A separate children's practice area with figures and a children's ski cross with jumps, steep curves and a wave track will develop their skills. A wide range of family ski passes offers inexpensive skiing fun with an impressive winter panorama.
Touring skiing/winter hiking/Nordic
The Rossfeld is a popular ski touring area in Berchtesgaden. The easy and partially prepared ascent routes from Oberau to the Rossfeld summit cross are signposted DAV touring ski trails. The descent is via the valley run. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, huts/touring ski evenings allow you to use the piste until 22:00. A cosy stop at the Rossfeld ski hut or the Liftlstüberl will reward you for the approximately one and a half hour ascent.
A short hiking trail begins at the car park on the summit route and leads to the summit cross. The path continues over the ridge back to the Rossfeld panoramic road. Follow the footpath along the crest of the Hahnenkamm to the next car park. From there, a hiking trail leads up to the Ahornbüchsenkopf or on to the Ahornkaser car park. (The walk there and back takes about an hour)
In Oberau there are other sunny circular routes for hikers and cross-country skiers, as well as a short natural toboggan run.
