You can choose from 2 attractive variants on this circular tour: From the Rabenau station of the Weißeritz Valley Railway or the parking lot at the Rabenau Mill, you can either start through the peaceful Buchwald forest to the cycle path, which leads past the Götzenbusch natural monument with its magnificent panoramic views all the way to the Dippoldiswald Heath. Alternatively, you can walk along the steep "Sagenhafter Mühlberg" adventure trail into the upper town to the market with the beautiful chair fountain and the post mile column. The German Chair Building Museum is located below. It illustrates the development from chair making to industrial production in the town, but also shows interesting special exhibitions. After your visit, you can reach the foot of the former castle hill via a steel staircase and also take the cycle path towards Götzenbusch. Then discover numerous historically unique places in the Dippoldiswald Heath. Once you arrive at the Malter dam, you can take a relaxing break before setting off on the return hike to Rabenau through the valley of the Rote Weißeritz. Tired hikers can also take the Weißeritz Valley Railway back.

Take the Weißeritz Valley Railway to Rabenau, the starting point of the hike. After the leisurely train ride, you climb from the station over the Mühlberg to what is probably the oldest chair-making town in Germany (red markings).
Passing the St. Egidien church dating from 1642 and the chair fountain on the market square, you reach the German Chair Making Museum in Rabenau, which is well worth a visit. The hike continues along Lindenstraße, Oelsaer Str., Dippoldiswalder Str. and the cycle path via Götzenbusch into the Dippoldiswalder Heide. Go in search of traces and discover historically unique places. Follow the path with green markings until you reach the Steinernes Messer junction and then turn right. On the Malterweg trail, you will reach the dam of the same name. Tip: ice cream parlors invite you to stop for a bite to eat. Following the route of the Weißeritz Valley Railway towards Freital-Hainsberg, the hiking trail takes you over the dam wall and then right across the meadow down into the Weißeritz valley. Follow the hiking trail downstream to Rabenau station, your starting point for the hike. If your feet are tired, you can also take the Weißeritz Valley Railway back from Malter.
