Around Kalbe (Milde) - A bike ride through typical Altmark villages

Our ride begins at the hiking base at the castle, between MEDIAN Clinic and the retirement home.

Then it continues along the castle moat. At the old watermill we cross the Milde and ride along the park. Then the Milde is crossed again at the old railway bridge. Further downstream via the small path between the Kreuztannen and the Milde. After the large bend, where the Milde was straightened at the end of the 18th century, continue to the Goliath bridge.

In the background, where the old poplars are visible, once stood the main building of the marine transmitter "Goliath".

We follow the path until we reach the connection between Karritz and Butterhorst. Please turn right here. After a short distance, crossing the Milde and the Secantsgraben again, we reach Karritz. At the point where we meet the country road, the old mill of Karritz can be seen opposite. We turn right now and follow the country road for a while via Neuendorf am Damm (past the old Neuendorf station) to Kremkau. Please be careful at the intersection in Neuendorf, there is relatively heavy traffic. Upon arrival in Kremkau, we ride through the village towards Algenstedt.

Shortly before leaving the village, on the right is the so-called "Luther oak"; here we turn right and ride down into the Milde valley. Please always stay on the main path. Several side paths cross or branch off, but these are meadow paths that end somewhere in the terrain. We cross the bridge over the Secantsgraben (today for the second time). Then it is not far to Schenkenhorst. Here we can follow the described route and then cross the Milde near the mill. Past the church and the former manor house of the von Alvensleben family, to then turn right again in the middle of the village and ride to the northern Milde bridge. Unfortunately, the manor house cannot be visited. In summer, the popular park singing event always takes place here.

We can also take the opportunity and ride straight ahead just before Schenkenhorst; this also leads to the northern Milde bridge. Here begins one of the most beautiful paths along the Milde to Kalbe.

Arriving in Kalbe, we follow the course of the large Milde to the bathing facility. Before the bathing facility, also called outdoor pool, we turn right onto the white wall and very quickly reach our starting point again.
