Lecture and visit of the historical observatory and (in good weather) an astronomical guided tour at the big telescope from 1886 with view into the starry sky.

At Galitzinberg in Vienna Ottakring there is an observatory from the time of historicism. It once belonged to a major industrialist of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and has preserved its historical appearance until today.

The Kuffner Observatory houses an important collection of astronomical instruments from the 19th century. The telescopes were manufactured by the renowned companies "Repsold und Söhne" in Hamburg and "Steinheil" in Munich.

The four telescopes, consisting of the Great Refractor, the Meridian Circle, the Vertical Circle and the Heliometer, were restored between 1993 and 2002 and adapted for educational and museum purposes.
