Hollensteinrunde in Winter

The starting point is the hiking start area in Prein an der Rax, at Scharfegger's Raxalpenhof.

Go down the state road past the Raxalpenhof and turn right over the bridge into Preinrotte towards Hollensteingraben. Turn left uphill onto Forststraße opposite the football field. Now follow the path and watch for the yellow signposts. The route first goes uphill for a short distance before continuing comfortably along a flat path. After some time, the path leads downhill again, past the football field and back to the starting point.

Please note that the path is not always cleared in heavy snowfall and may have slippery spots.

Attention, this winter hiking trail may not be completely cleared in snowy conditions and can have slippery spots. Use at your own risk!

Special caution applies when moving in the mountains in winter. Make sure your chosen route matches your condition. Check the weather report in advance. Weather in the mountains can change surprisingly quickly. Always set out well-equipped (e.g., beanie, gloves, etc.). Keep in mind that it gets dark as early as 4:00 p.m. in winter.

Check whether the huts and snack stations you want to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your route choice and your planned return before you set off.
