On occasion of La Freestyla, the best snowboarders and freeskiers from Italy, Austria, Germany and many other nations gathered at the beautiful Alta Badia in order to rake in the last points for the big QParks Tour Finals! The riders pulled out the best tricks of the season and showed the spectators and judges how creative you could shred the slopestyle course!

A Down Tube/Wallride jib combo, two kickers - a 10 and 12 a meter one - as well as a Quarter Pipe completed the contest setup on Saturday, March 30th 2013, at the QParks Tour Stop La Freestyla. The creative line enjoyed popularity among snowboarders and freeskiers and even though the weather got worse and worse, the riders kept up their motivation.

In the category Freeski Men, Flo Geyer (GER) could keep up his winning streak up and won not only the competition but also nailed the Best Trick with a 270on 630off on the Down Tube, just like he did two weeks ago at the Kirschbaum Battle. He came in 1st ahead of his fellow-countryman Torge Nagel and Lukas Schäfer from Italy. “The level on the small kickers was extremely high – we all made the best of it, you couldn’t do any better. The Down Pipe was set up pretty nicely and it was huge fun shredding it. The Quarter was cool as well because you could use it as a Spine – definitely a good alternative and you could see tricks like Handdrag 360s, but also 540s and 720s!”, Freeski Tour leader Flo Geyer said.

With his second place, Torge Nagel not only secured his participation at the QParks Tour Finals in two weeks at the Dachstein, but he was also happy about a 1-year sponsoring from adidas eyewear including goggles and sunglasses!

Snowboarder Fabian Wolfsgruber was pretty happy about his first victory after a long series of 2nd and 3rd places during the current QParks Tour season, thanks to which he also extended his lead in the category Snowboard Men: “Everyone was highly motivated and the atmosphere was good despite the bad weather. I stomped my line in the qualification and in the finals – FS Blunt on the Down Tube, FS 360 Crail, BS 540 Indy and a Cab 1 in the Quarter – stoked!” He won ahead of Snowpark Alta Badia shaper Peter Stromberger (AUT) and the last year’s winner, Lukas Valentini (ITA). Peter

Walchhofer (AUT) who took the 2nd place in the qualification was unlucky in the finals but he snatched the Best Trick of the day with a BS 540 Mute!

Daniela Kaindl (AUT), leader in the category Snowboard Ladies, came in 2nd, right behind her direct opponent Kathrin Gappmayr (AUT). She could not only rejoice over prize money and goodies from Ski Peppi, she also won a one-year sponsoring contract from adidas eyewear as well as goggles and sunglasses.

In the category Freeski Ladies, local Arianna Tricomi was able to defend her title: “The contest setup was lovely and the kickers weren’t too big but nice to jump. I chose a stylish run – Switch 180 and 360 Double Japan – obviously, the judges liked it. I will save the prize money but my boyfriend, who came in 2nd in the Snowboard Men category, will pay for some drinks tonight.”
