Today we will discover one of the most popular parks of Dolomiti Super Freestyle: the Snowpark Alta Badia! This park is a true paradise on snow for all boards and twintips addicts: with a length of 480 m and a total of 30 elements, among which 10 jumps, 6 rails, 5 jibs and 8 different kind of boxes, riders are definitely spoilt for choice!

The Snowpark Alta Badia is located by the ski-lodge Piz Sorega, between the slopes La Frëina and Ciampai, an area which enjoys a lot of sunny days and the breathtaking setting of the Dolomites! The park offers many diverse obstacles suitable for all riding levels: there is a line with easier elements for the ones who are moving the first steps in the freestyle world, an area where riders at a medium level can improve their technique, and also a pro line with more difficult obstacles. The Snowpark Alta Badia is a true meeting point for the freestyle enthusiastics!

We talked with Basti Funk, the filmmaker who, on Sunday the 6th of January, was filming in the park. Basti, how did the shooting day go?
“It was great! The weather was superb, it was a bit windy but the sun shone all day long and the temperature was perfect, it was really pleasant. We arrived at the park with some snowboarders of ours, then some local freeskiers joined us and together we shred the park and did the film shooting. We were a group of ten and we had an awesome time… with such weather, it couldn’t have been otherwise!”

You come quite often to Alta Badia, how do you like the park this year?
“On Sunday, when we arrived, the park was not completely done but really well shaped. While we were busy filming, the shape crew was finishing the pro line which will be opened in a couple of days… There were many people who were riding the medium kickers and who surely can’t wait till the pro line is opened!”

The freestyle experts don’t need to worry because all the park’s lines are complete since Friday the 11th! As for the jumps, the extensive setup includes no less than ten kickers of different sizes (3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12 e 14m), a 100m banked run and a 15m wave run. The jib fans can try out a mushroom, a pyramide, a wallride, a wallride spine and a shrek.
Obviously, every snowpark worthy of the name can’t lack some boxes. In the Snowpark Alta Badia, you will find four different boxes apt for beginners and four different boxes for pros. And last but not least, try out the 5m big tube and the six different rails!

And according to tradition, this year anew some QParks events will be held at the Snowpark Alta Badia! Ladies, mark the 2nd of February because it’s gonna be freestyle Girls Day… And to end the season with a bang, on the 30th March the QParks Tour will stop in Alta Badia!
